A twist on the classic seven layer bars, these Mint Chocolate Seven Layer Bars are a simple recipe that results in decadent, gooey bars filled with different types of chocolate, mint candies and cookies, and a rich, creamy sweetened condensed milk layer!
Do you call them magic bars or seven layer bars? I grew up calling them seven layer bars, because of the seven ingredients in them. Though they do come together like magic!
Whatever you call them, these gooey, decadent bars are an easy, versatile dessert that is fun to switch up throughout the year.
Based off of our Triple Chocolate Seven Layer Bars, these Mint Chocolate Seven Layer Bars are loaded with different kinds of chocolate and mint!
A thick crust made up of mint creme-filled sandwich cookies (I used mint OREO® cookies.) acts as the base of the rich, chocolaty, and creamy bars.
Topping the base is a layer of white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, and mint candy covered chocolates (Dark chocolate mint M&M’s work well.).
Sweetened condensed milk is drizzled over the top to not only hold everything together, but to also add a rich, creaminess that gets slightly caramelized on the edges (One of my favorite parts!).
More mint chocolate candies and some coarsely chopped mint sandwich cookies are spread over the top right before baking.
And even though that would be good as is, we sprinkle a few more white chocolate chips and dark chocolate chips over the top after pulling the bars from the oven to give these seven layer bars as much chocolate flavor as possible!

How to Make Mint Chocolate Seven Layer Bars
The hardest part about these bars is waiting for them to cool completely before you are able to cut them into pieces and enjoying!
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper or non-stick aluminum foil. You don’t want to skip this step as the edges will stick!
In a small bowl, stir together the mint creme-filled sandwich cookie crumbs (Mint Oreos work well for this.) and the melted butter until combined.
Press mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. You can use your hands or the bottom of a glass.
(If you want to keep your hands clean, you can place a piece of parchment paper over the top of the mixture and spread the mixture out over the top of the paper.)
Bake for 5 minutes. Remove to a wire rack.
Top the crust with a 1/2 cup of mint candy covered chocolates, 3/4 cup white chocolate chips, and 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips.
Drizzle sweetened condensed milk (as evenly as possible) over the top of the candy.
Top with the remaining 1/2 cup mint candy covered chocolates and the coarsely chopped mint creme-filled sandwich cookies.
Carefully place back in the oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until edges are golden and the center just starts to turn light golden.
Remove bars, and place on a cooling rack. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup white chocolate chips and 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips.
Allow to cool completely (or at least 2 hours) before cutting into pieces and enjoying. (I like to take a knife and loosen the edges after about 30 minutes of cooling.)
It is important to allow the bars to cool for the minimum amount of time. They will be too melty and gooey to hold together if they are too warm.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
Tips for How to Make Chocolate Mint Magic Bars
- Give your sweetened condensed milk a stir before using. The milk can separate over time.
- You can use semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips in place of the dark chocolate chips. We like using dark chocolate to cut down on the sweetness of the bars.
- Let the bars set for at least 2 hours before cutting. The smell will make it really hard to wait, but you will have a gooey, sticky mess if you don’t wait.

- Love nuts? Add 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts.
- Want a bit of a chew? Add 1 cup shredded coconut.

- 3 1/2 Cups mint creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs (about 28 sandwich cookies)
- 1/2 Cup melted butter
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 Cup mint candy covered chocolates, divided (Dark Chocolate Mint M&Ms work well)
- 1 Cup white chocolate chips, divided
- 1 Cup dark chocolate or semi-sweet chips, divided
- 10 coarsely chopped mint cream filled chocolate sandwich cookies (mint OREO® cookies work well)
Instructions
